Basilicata
Matera is an interesting town to visit where many scenes from the movie Passion of the Christ were filmed, also in Matera visitors can see the “Sassi”, Maratea is a beautiful coastal town set in the mountain is the old town, steeping down towards the port, a great place to have lunch if you are in the area. ![]()
Calabria
Scalea is the biggest seaside town in the area with lots to do and see, this town has always been popular with the Italians as a holiday destination, with long beaches, festivals. The seafront has modern hotels, restaurants and shops, the surrounding area has ancient olive groves, roadside water fountains and endless orange and lemon trees. Highly recommended.![]()
Campania
Naples is the capital, it is home to the world-renowned Amalfi Coast, the ancient tragic city of Pompeii, and the romantic Isle of Capri. Campania is the birthplace of Pizza, Spaghetti, and Buffalo Mozzarella. Highly recommended.![]()
Molise
Campobasso the capital of Molise is divided into a new town, located on the plain and a more interesting old town up on the hill, dominated by the imposing Castello Monforte. Many of the sights in Campobasso have been rebuilt due to Molise's earthquakes and subsequent bombing during World War II.![]()
Puglia
Alberobello the region is renowned for it's Trulli's these are whitewashed cones made of stones held together without mortar, best scene in their hundreds it is quite a site the best to place to see this is in Alberobella. .![]()
Sicily
Taormina is also medieval, though its fame derives from its ancient Greek theatre (and from its view, probably the most spectacular of any theatre built by the Greeks).![]()
