The elongated region of Puglia (Apulia) forms the south-east part of the peninsula, eventually forming the heel of Italy's "boot" in what is called the Salento peninsula Puglia has one of the longest coastlines of any region in Italy.

Puglia is bordered by the other Italian regions of Molise to the north, Campania to the west, and Basilicata to the southwest. It neighbours Greece and Albania, across the Ionian and Adriatic Seas.

Puglia is world renowned for it's Trullis (stone dwellings built with a conical roof) and produces a large quantities of wine and olive oil, and is rapidly becoming a prized tourist destination.
