Umbria is in the centre of Italy and is often called the green heart of Italy, one of the few regions without a coastline. The region is separated into two provinces, the capital city of Umbria is Perugia. The provinces are, Perugia and Terni. |

Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of the region, these fortified medieval hill towns are rich in art, history and architecture, and many are relatively untouched by tourism. Gubbio, Spello, Todi, Spoleto, Deruta, Orvieto — all are unique and worthy of a visit.
